At the Store
It is our hope and constant endeavour to share with you not just a fashion
label, but a complete way of living. With this in mind, we often host
events that complement our philosophy.
In the recent past, we have hosted a Kitsch
Party by Sabina Singh, Preeti Vyas Gianetti & Sangita Sinh Kathiwada.
Also we've had the T'ai
Chi Chuan demonstration by Sandeep Desai, Director of the Okinawan
Shorin Matsubayashi Ryu Karate Association. We have also taken pride
in showcasing handmade paper products manufactured by Neeta Premchand
and danseuse Mallika Sarabhai's company Mapin Anytime. A special workshop
at the store also taught children how to make handmade paper products.
Their creations were truly beautiful, so we gave them the opportunity
to sell them through the store. It gives us great satisfaction to know
that since the workshop, many of the less privileged children
have chosen to continue earning a living through this medium.
Discovering that our store can promote so much more than fashion, has
been very rewarding for us. We hope that you not only enjoy what we
offer, but also experience the joy of supporting the issues you believe
in.
And Beyond
Clothes for a Cause
After the Kargil war, Mélange was able to organize a special
sale to raise funds for the Army Wives' Welfare Association.
13 of the country's leading designers donated about 200 outfits that
were sold at the store.
On International Women's Day, 1998, Mélange celebrated the many
facets of womanhood through Shakti Sutra, a fashion show with
seven sequences, each of which highlighted a particular role of women,
be it as wife, mother, daughter or working woman.
Even Mélange's regular fashion shows try to reflect its values.
We almost never use a luxury hotel as our platform. Instead, we choose
neglected heritage buildings such as The Royal Opera House and
the Framjee Cawasjee Hall to host our shows. We are delighted that such
time-honoured architectural wonders can lend their magnificence to our
contemporary lines.
